Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of the Science of Apps website, the certification plans and add-ons you can buy on it, and the general basis on which we provide behavioural UX audits and app diagnoses. Plans are one-time, upfront purchases delivered instantly, and all sales are final. A signed proposal or statement of work for a specific engagement takes precedence over these terms.
1. Using this website
You may read, share and link to the content on this site for personal or internal business use. Please do not copy it wholesale, misrepresent it as your own, or use the site in a way that could damage it or interfere with others' use of it.
The Laws of UX library and other articles are general educational information about psychology and design, not professional advice for your specific product. Quoting short passages with a link back to the source page is welcome.
2. Certifications are for educational purposes only
Science of Apps is a private educational and consulting initiative. We are not a government body, statutory authority, regulator, university, college, school or accreditation agency, and we do not act on behalf of any of them. Our certifications, certificates, badges, scores and credential IDs are issued by us alone, for educational purposes only.
We offer them to encourage and help readers, interviewees, job seekers, professionals, students, entrepreneurs, business leaders and other learners to test and improve their knowledge, and to give them a small recognition that motivates them to keep going. In particular, a Science of Apps certification:
- is not a degree, diploma, professional licence or statutory qualification, and is not accredited, recognised or endorsed by any government, regulator, university or other public or private body in India, the European Union, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia or any other country;
- is not a substitute for, an alternative to, or the equivalent of a college or university degree, a full-time or part-time course, vocational training or any formally recognised programme of study;
- does not license, authorise or entitle the holder to practise any profession, carry on any business, or represent themselves as qualified, licensed or affiliated with Science of Apps for commercial purposes;
- does not create any employment, partnership, agency, franchise or official affiliation between the holder and Science of Apps; and
- does not guarantee any job, interview, admission, promotion, income or other outcome.
This applies equally to free certifications and to certificates, plans and add-ons you pay for: paying does not change what a certificate is. A certificate reflects only how a person performed on our online test at the time they took it. Employers, institutions and anyone else who sees a certificate should make their own assessment and should not rely on it as proof of formal qualification. Holders must not present a Science of Apps certificate as a government, university or accredited credential, or as anything other than what this section describes; we may revoke a certificate that is misrepresented, obtained dishonestly or used in breach of these terms.
Everything else on this website — articles, guides, the Laws of UX library, PDFs and tests — is likewise provided for general educational and informational purposes only, in good faith and without warranty of completeness or accuracy, and is not professional, legal, financial, medical or career advice.
3. Paid certification plans and add-ons
These terms apply when you buy a certification plan or add-on on this website. By completing a purchase you confirm that you are 18 or older, that the details you give are accurate, and that you are authorised to use the payment method.
3.1 What you buy
Each plan, and any add-on you choose with it, is described on the certification page at the time you buy, together with its price. Plans are one-time purchases paid in full upfront. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal: we will never charge you again unless you make a new purchase yourself. Add-ons are available only with a plan and are paid for at the same time.
3.2 Prices, currency and taxes
- Buyers in India are charged in Indian rupees (INR) and pay through Cashfree Payments by card, UPI, net banking or wallet. Prices include GST where it applies, unless the checkout shows it separately, and we issue a tax invoice on request.
- Buyers outside India are charged in the currency shown at checkout for their country (or in US dollars where PayPal does not support the local currency) and pay through PayPal, with a PayPal account or by card. Any currency conversion, foreign-transaction or bank fees charged by PayPal, your bank or your card issuer are your responsibility, and any import tax, VAT or GST due in your country is your responsibility unless the checkout shows that we collect it.
We use your country (and your IP address or billing details) to choose the currency and payment provider; please do not misstate your country to get a different price. The price you pay is the one shown at checkout. We may change prices for future purchases at any time. If a price is clearly wrong because of a technical or typing error, we may cancel the order and refund it in full, before or after payment.
3.3 Payment
Payments are processed by Cashfree and PayPal, not by us, and are subject to their own terms. We never receive or store your full card, UPI or bank details. Your order is confirmed only when the payment provider confirms that payment has succeeded. We may decline or cancel an order that we reasonably suspect is fraudulent or breaks these terms; if we cancel a paid order for that reason before delivering it, we refund it.
3.4 Delivery
Plans and add-ons are digital and are delivered instantly: once payment is confirmed, they are unlocked for download on the website and we email you a confirmation. Nothing is shipped. If you have not received access within 24 hours of a successful payment, contact us and we will deliver it or, if we cannot, refund you.
3.5 No refunds — all sales are final
Because plans and add-ons are digital and are delivered immediately, all purchases are final and non-refundable. We do not offer refunds, cancellations or exchanges for change of mind, for not using or downloading what you bought, for not passing or not liking a test, for buying the wrong plan, or because a certificate was not accepted by an employer or institution.
The only exceptions are where:
- you were charged more than once for the same order, or charged for an order that failed;
- we could not deliver what you paid for, as described in 3.4; or
- a refund is required by law that cannot be excluded by contract.
In those cases, contact us within 30 days of the payment and we will refund the affected amount to your original payment method. Refunds for Indian payments are processed through Cashfree and usually reach you within 5–7 working days; refunds for international payments are processed through PayPal and follow its timelines. We do not refund currency conversion or bank fees charged by third parties.
3.6 Buyers in the EU, EEA, UK and similar countries
Consumer law in these countries normally gives you 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content, that right ends once delivery begins with your consent. By completing your purchase you ask us to deliver your plan immediately and acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel once it is delivered. Nothing in these terms removes any other consumer right you have under the law of your country of residence that cannot be waived.
3.7 Chargebacks and disputes
If something is wrong with your order, please contact us first so we can fix it. If you open a chargeback or payment dispute for a purchase that was delivered as described, we will provide the payment provider with evidence of the purchase and delivery, and we may suspend access to that plan and its certificates while the dispute is open, and revoke them if the payment is reversed.
3.8 Personal use
Plans, add-ons and downloads are for your own personal use. You may not share your access, resell, republish or redistribute them, or use them to train or build competing products. Certificates are personal to the named holder and may be revoked as set out in section 2.
4. Our services
Each engagement is defined in a written proposal or statement of work that sets out the scope, tier, deliverables, timeline and fees. Prices on this website are indicative for standard scopes and may be adjusted for your specific requirements before you sign.
5. Fees and payment
For consulting engagements, fees, currency (INR or USD), payment schedule and any applicable taxes are stated in your proposal (certification purchases are covered by section 3). Unless agreed otherwise, invoices are payable within the period stated on the invoice.
6. Your responsibilities
You agree to give us timely access to the product, data and people the agreed scope needs, and to make sure you are entitled to share any user data with us. We will only use that data to deliver the engagement.
7. Confidentiality
We keep your product details, data, roadmaps and our findings confidential and are happy to sign your non-disclosure agreement. We will not name you as a client or publish findings about your product without your written permission.
8. Intellectual property
Once fees are paid, you may use the reports and deliverables we create for you for any internal purpose. We keep ownership of our methods, frameworks, templates and general know-how, including the content of this website.
9. No guaranteed outcomes
Our recommendations are based on established research and the evidence available during the engagement. Results depend on how and when they are implemented and on factors outside our control, so we cannot guarantee specific improvements in metrics such as conversion or retention.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any engagement, plan or add-on is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of New Delhi have jurisdiction, unless your proposal or statement of work states otherwise or the law of your country gives you rights that cannot be waived.
12. Grievances
Our grievance officer is Sushant Singh, Founder & CEO, Science of Apps, New Delhi, India. Send complaints about a purchase, payment, certificate or anything else on the site through our contact form with “Grievance” in your message. We will acknowledge it within 48 hours and resolve it within one month. This does not affect your right to approach a consumer commission or other authority in your country.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and will post the new version on this page with a new date. The terms in force when you buy a plan apply to that purchase. Questions? Reach us through the contact form. See also our privacy policy.
