About this skill

About Explain at three levels

Explanations are often pitched too high or too low for the person asking. This skill explains any concept three ways: simply, with an everyday analogy; at student level, with the key terms; and at expert level, with nuance and limitations. Each level comes with a check question and answer, plus the most common misconception. It's useful for teachers preparing lessons, students revising, and anyone who needs to explain a technical idea to a mixed audience. To use it, paste the skill into your assistant and send the concept you want explained; the reply is laid out as “Simple”, “Student” and “Expert”.
