About this skill

About Plain-language patient letter

Letters full of medical jargon lead to missed appointments and patients bringing the wrong documents. This skill rewrites a letter in short sentences and everyday words, puts the action and date at the top, adds a checklist of what to bring or do and says who to call with questions. It also writes an SMS version under 160 characters. Clinical instructions such as fasting or medication are copied exactly as the clinician wrote them, never reworded. To use it, paste the skill into your assistant and send the letter's purpose and the facts to include (use placeholders for patient details); the reply is laid out as “Letter”, “Reading-level notes” and “SMS version”.
