What is the Hogan Assessment Practice Test?

The Hogan Assessment Practice Test is a free, 56-item self-report inventory from Science of Apps that takes about 11 minutes. It is a Hogan-style workplace personality inventory on the seven scales of the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) — Adjustment, Ambition, Sociability, Interpersonal Sensitivity, Prudence, Inquisitive and Learning Approach — using 56 true-or-false statements, the HPI's own response format, so you know what to expect before an employer's Hogan assessment. It is based on Hogan Personality Inventory: scales and manual (Robert Hogan and Joyce Hogan (Hogan Assessment Systems)).

Where can I take a free Hogan Assessment test online?

Science of Apps offers a free Hogan Assessment Practice Test, updated for 2026 and 2027. It measures everyday personality, and derailers and motivators as measured by Hogan-style workplace questionnaires and gives instant results with a shareable certificate.

How do I take the Hogan Assessment Practice Test for free?

Start it on this page — no fee or sign-up. Answer all 56 items honestly (about 11 minutes, untimed), then see your profile with a score for every scale. Add your name to get a verifiable Workplace Personality (Hogan-Style) result card, on screen, as a PDF and by email.

How does the Hogan Assessment Practice Test work?

You answer 56 short items about how you usually think, feel and act. There are no right or wrong answers. Your answers are scored on 7 scales — Adjustment, Ambition, Sociability, Interpersonal Sensitivity, Prudence, Inquisitive and Learning Approach — and you get a profile of high, mid-range and low scores on every scale, with what each scale means.

Who is the Hogan Assessment Practice Test for?

Job seekers facing a Hogan assessment, Leadership programme candidates, Graduate scheme applicants, HR and talent professionals and Coaches preparing clients. It is a self-report tool for self-awareness, team conversations and career exploration in 2026 and 2027 — not a clinical or diagnostic test, and not a reason on its own to hire or reject anyone.

What does the Hogan Personality Inventory measure?

The HPI describes "bright side" personality — how you come across when at your best — on seven scales: Adjustment, Ambition, Sociability, Interpersonal Sensitivity, Prudence, Inquisitive and Learning Approach. Employers often pair it with the HDS (derailers under stress) and MVPI (values).

Can you prepare for a Hogan assessment?

You can't "pass" it, and trying to game it usually backfires because the HPI includes a validity check for inconsistent or overly positive answers. Preparation means knowing the format, answering honestly and quickly, and understanding the scales so your report is no surprise.

Can I take the Hogan Assessment Practice Test from any country?

Yes. The test is online, in English and free everywhere — people take it from India, the US, the UK, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Your certificate is dated with your own local date and can be verified from anywhere at scienceofapps.com/certification/verify/.

How long is the Hogan Assessment Practice Test?

56 items, untimed — most people finish in about 11 minutes. Answer with your first instinct; there is no pass mark.

Can I fail the Hogan Assessment Practice Test?

No. It is a self-report inventory, not an exam: every honest answer is valid, and your result describes your preferences rather than your ability. Answer as you usually are, not as you think you should be.

How much do Science of Apps certifications cost?

Nothing. There is no fee to take a test, to receive the certificate, to have it emailed or to verify it, and no sign-up.

How are the tests graded?

On our server, not in your browser. The answers never reach the page until you submit, so a certificate can only be earned by passing. Each certificate gets a unique credential ID stored by Science of Apps.

What happens if I don't pass?

You see your score for each area and every question with the correct answer and why, with the published source behind it. You can retake after 30 minutes, and the retake draws questions you haven't seen yet.

Do the certificates expire?

No. Every certificate is dated, so it always shows when you passed. Retake a test any time for a newer date or a higher score.

Can I add the certificate to LinkedIn?

Yes. After you pass, Add to LinkedIn opens the Licenses & certifications form with the certificate name, Science of Apps as the issuer, the issue date, your credential ID and the verification link filled in. You can also download it as a PDF or PNG, and it's emailed to you as a PDF.

How can an employer verify my certificate?

Every certificate has a credential ID and a QR code. Scanning it, or entering the ID at scienceofapps.com/certification/verify/, shows the holder's name, the certification, the score and the issue date from our records.

Are these accredited qualifications?

No. They are Science of Apps' own assessments of applied skill. They aren't issued by a university or standards body, and they work best alongside a portfolio that shows the skills in real work.
