What the test covers

Four scales, measured by 44 items in all. Each scale runs from a low score to a high one — neither end is better.

  1. 01

    Extraversion (E) vs Introversion (I)

    • Introversion: draws energy from inner reflection and time alone
    • Extraversion: draws energy from people, activity and the outer world
  2. 02

    Sensing (S) vs Intuition (N)

    • Intuition: notices patterns, possibilities and the big picture
    • Sensing: trusts concrete facts, details and direct experience
  3. 03

    Thinking (T) vs Feeling (F)

    • Feeling: decides with values, harmony and people in mind
    • Thinking: decides with logic, consistency and objective criteria
  4. 04

    Judging (J) vs Perceiving (P)

    • Perceiving: prefers flexibility, spontaneity and keeping options open
    • Judging: prefers plans, structure and decisions made early

A self-report inventory for self-awareness and development: there are no right or wrong answers, results describe preferences rather than ability, and it is not a clinical or diagnostic assessment.

How does the 16 Personality Types Test work?

You answer 44 short items about how you usually think, feel and act. There are no right or wrong answers. Your answers are scored on 4 scales — Extraversion (E) vs Introversion (I), Sensing (S) vs Intuition (N), Thinking (T) vs Feeling (F) and Judging (J) vs Perceiving (P) — and you get a four-letter type, with what each scale means.

Who is the 16 Personality Types Test for?

Professionals exploring how they work best, Teams comparing communication styles, Students choosing study and career paths, Coaches running workshops and Anyone curious about their type. It is a self-report tool for self-awareness, team conversations and career exploration in 2026 and 2027 — not a clinical or diagnostic test, and not a reason on its own to hire or reject anyone.

What are the 16 personality types?

Combinations of four preference pairs from Carl Jung's theory of psychological types: where you focus energy (E or I), how you take in information (S or N), how you decide (T or F) and how you deal with the outside world (J or P). For example, INTJ or ESFP.

Is this the Myers-Briggs (MBTI) test?

No. MBTI® is a registered trademark of The Myers-Briggs Company, and the official instrument is given by certified practitioners. This free test uses original items on the same four Jungian preference pairs. Type results are best used for self-reflection, not for hiring decisions.

Can I take the 16 Personality Types Test from any country?

Yes. The test is online, in English and free everywhere — people take it from India, the US, the UK, Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Your certificate is dated with your own local date and can be verified from anywhere at scienceofapps.com/certification/verify/.

How long is the 16 Personality Types Test?

44 items, untimed — most people finish in about 9 minutes. Answer with your first instinct; there is no pass mark.

Can I fail the 16 Personality Types Test?

No. It is a self-report inventory, not an exam: every honest answer is valid, and your result describes your preferences rather than your ability. Answer as you usually are, not as you think you should be.

How much do Science of Apps certifications cost?

Nothing. There is no fee to take a test, to receive the certificate, to have it emailed or to verify it, and no sign-up.

How are the tests graded?

On our server, not in your browser. The answers never reach the page until you submit, so a certificate can only be earned by passing. Each certificate gets a unique credential ID stored by Science of Apps.

What happens if I don't pass?

You see your score for each area and every question with the correct answer and why, with the published source behind it. You can retake after 30 minutes, and the retake draws questions you haven't seen yet.

Do the certificates expire?

No. Every certificate is dated, so it always shows when you passed. Retake a test any time for a newer date or a higher score.

Can I add the certificate to LinkedIn?

Yes. After you pass, Add to LinkedIn opens the Licenses & certifications form with the certificate name, Science of Apps as the issuer, the issue date, your credential ID and the verification link filled in. You can also download it as a PDF or PNG, and it's emailed to you as a PDF.

How can an employer verify my certificate?

Every certificate has a credential ID and a QR code. Scanning it, or entering the ID at scienceofapps.com/certification/verify/, shows the holder's name, the certification, the score and the issue date from our records.

Are these accredited qualifications?

No. They are Science of Apps' own assessments of applied skill. They aren't issued by a university or standards body, and they work best alongside a portfolio that shows the skills in real work.
